Creeds 2: Who is in charge of your life?

The first part of my 'Creed' (God is Love) was posted a couple of months ago. The second half is simply 'Jesus is Lord' This is all about 'Who is in charge?' Not only of the Universe, but also in your life, and mine. Mankind has made a great mess of trying to be in charge of ourselves. Sadly the day to day news illustrates the disastrous consequences.

When Jesus came, His whole life, death and resurrection proclaimed Him to be the Son of God and, consequently 'Lord'. When His followers declared this, they were immediately set on a collision course with the Roman Emperor (Caesar, who stated that all must worship him as Lord), and the Jewish religious authorities, who of course, believed in Jehovah as the LORD God.

Many of the early Christians were executed because of their allegiance to Jesus Christ as Lord. St Paul writing to Christians in Rome said that the genuine followers of Christ are those who declare that 'Jesus is Lord', and believe in their hearts that God raised Him from the dead.

So, a very simple Creed for me, at least. 'God is Love' and 'Jesus is Lord.' Very simple to say and remember - but with profound implications for your life and mine. Some of the consequences we shall discuss in other posts, I have no doubt!
